As enrollment managers, we often think we know our markets really well. But do we? Let's reassess how we examine our data to understand our market and our institution standing in it.

First, look at traditional enrollment data, but ask different questions. Instead of just considering volume, consider academic interests, new inquiry sources, changing competition. These factors tell a richer, more robust story than just looking at volume changes alone.

Second, collaborate with other departments like marketing. They can give you insights beyond your funnel. They can show you pre inquiry engagement, such as digital interactions or email engagement indicating potential new markets.

Third, move past your quantitative data by talking with your team. They can offer valuable insights from school counselors, students, and families, which help tailor your messaging and improve recruitment efforts.

Let's put all of that together: Analyze enrollment data differently, work with marketing to understand brand engagement, and gather qualitative data from your team. Combine those approaches, and you're going to enhance your recruitment strategy and keep yourself competitive.
